Finding Focus: Writing to Reclaim Our Attention During Pandemic Time. Held on 2 Saturdays:
November 6 and December 4, 9:30-2:30.
I will be co-facilitating a workshop on the poets Ellen Bass and Dorianne Laux with my longtime friend and colleague, the poet Allisa Cherry.
Each week we will choose poems that speak to one another in either form or theme and yield rich topics for discussion. We’ll all share our reactions, questions and insights in a relaxed conversation via zoom.
Required texts:TheHuman Line by Ellen Bass and Only As the Day is Long by Dorianne Laux
- Literary Arts: Writers in the Schools (residency TBA)
- Sitka Center for Art & Ecology

Students from workshops have said:
She was incredibly inspiring, helpful, compassionate, and patient. She created an environment where people were able to express creativity and write with vulnerability. I would take her class again anytime!
Laura has an incredible talent for pinpointing what it is you are trying to say in your writing, even when you don’t yet know it.
Created a very open environment in which everyone felt very open and comfortable sharing very personal experiences. Was supportive and gave great feedback on writing pieces.
